BUFFALO-ATTACKING AFRICAN LIONS...
********************************

In Serengeti, Kenya or East Africa, the lions roam and hunt in pride-formation - i.e. two maned male lions form the nuclear of a
pride with several female lions and cubs. The male lions protect the pride from intrusion by other prides.
The male lion with its magnificent mane seldom joins in the hunt and leave this necessary chore to all the female lions in
the pride to hunt fresh meat for the entire pride.
However, when the female lions bring down a huge quarry like the ferocious buffalo, it is always customary for the male lion or lions in the pride to eat first and when he is full, the pride's female lions take over the chomping on the rest and the left overs
would be designated for the waned cubs.
The lions of Serengeti will not hesitate to scavenge for the carcasses brought down by the weaker cheetahs and rob them
of their preys whenever possible.
During the dry weather months, the pride of lions would strategized in hunting for bigger games like the heavy two-ton
buffaloes or even an infantile elephant.
Dry season in Serengeti could last for months and the female lions would run dry of milk to feed the cubs which would be the
first among the lions to perish until the coming of the wet season with green grass and the return of cud-chewing animals
like the vast herds of wilderbeest - the main food supply of Serengeti lions.
In this below sequence of pictures by Xinhua news net, they show a series of Serengeti lions hunting the dangerous buffaloes
as a last resort in order to survive during the yearly dry season in the wilds of Kenya, East Africa.
